Washington, D.C.

If you are from the United States, visiting our nation’s capitol is a must.

If you are not from the U.S., it is still highly recommend it as a historical destination.

If you love museums, this is THE place to go. Nearly every museum in the district is….FREE! I repeat, nearly every museum is free. The museums vary from historical to contemporary art, so there is something for everyone. If you are a parent, you will love this place. There is so much to do here with kids. Even if you aren’t into museums, the architecture of all of them makes them pretty neat places to just hang out and read or do some computer work, plus you can always grab a bite to eat and a coffee at their cafe’s.

How do I get around?

DC has a pretty easy public transportation system. The Metro system is easy to use, and the buses are part of the same system so you don’t need separate passes for each one. The metro also connects directly to and from the airport, so you don’t need to grab a taxi if you are on a budget. Just make sure to check the Metro schedule if you are arriving at ungodly hours. I recommend referring to my post on how to utilize Apple maps to get around transit systems.
