Who Are The Passport Tramps?
Hi, I’m Jamie ✿
I am the main tramp behind this blog. Most, if not all, of the posts are written by me. Kyle’s always been more of a along-for-the-ride kinda guy. He just books the accommodations and keeps me company.
I’m a photographer and every photo on this website is taken by yours truly! Except the ones of me, of course, which are generally taken by that cute boy below. I love to shoot 35mm film and have been shooting film for 7 years now!
After high school, I didn’t know what I wanted to do but I knew I needed to travel. I had never left the country before. I worked a bunch of crappy jobs, saved every single dime, and booked a one way ticket to London, with only my first night booked and the rest to be made up as I go.
My plan was to travel solo, but then I met Kyle and after much consideration I was like okay fine you can come cuz I love you a lot. And away we embarked! I haven’t been the same since and traveling is now my motivator for everything I do.
One more thing about me.. I have a very sarcastic and dry sense of humor. My foot has been permanently placed in my mouth, so I apologize in advance if I ever do that on here.
Fun Fact: I love to embroider, cross stitch, read, and do crossword puzzles. I’m essentially a little ol’ lady
Hey, I’m Kyle ☀
Contrary to most nomads, I love to work, but luckily my job has me traveling constantly all over the US. It’s great because Jamie has joined me on multiple work trips and relishes in the fancy hotel stay.
I love to cook and whenever I am on the road, I have to find a great place to eat. I also like to indulge in a good craft beer wherever I am. Visiting local breweries are a must whenever I am in a new location. They are a great way to get a feel for the area and meet new people.
And coffee. I drink way too much coffee, but damn its so good! I grab myself a cappuccino in every spot I see.
Fun Fact: I joked with my grandma about getting a tattoo of a potato because she loves potatoes, but she thought I was serious so now I have a giant tattoo of a potato.
We’re Passport Tramps ♡
Together, we have explored 23 countries, 17 states, and counting.
Our favorite thing to do when arriving in a new spot is to go to the weirdest and quirkiest bar we can find. It is seriously so much fun! We have been to some really funky places i.e. a toilet themed bar in Berlin.
Friends are always asking us how the heck we find these places, so this blog is our way to share all those spots with you!
What Can We Do For You?
Why should you stick around?
We started this blog for many reasons..
The benefits of travel are endless, and we want to help you in ways we know how. Leaving the comfort of your home expands your mind and compassion for others and I get so damn giddy whenever someone is planning a trip. Ask anyone that has ever crossed paths with me, I am a total nagging travel-pusher. All I want is for people to broaden their horizons and have the time of their lives wherever they go and this is my way to help as many people as I can.
Friends and family are always asking me for travel advice, places to go, and saying “how in the heck did you find that place.” Literally as I’m typing this, I just got a text asking me how I travel so much lol. Passport Tramps is my way to answer those questions for everyone.
As mentioned before, we are uhhhh-mazing at finding quirky places. You could say that is our niche. The second we step foot in a new place, our goal is to find the weirdest and most unique bar we can find. On my 21st birthday, Kyle took me to a bunch of themed bars in L.A. and since then we’ve been hooked. Ooo! And a good tiki bar, preferably one that goes all out with the theme. Basically, we love to frequent bars. Fund our drinking habits below! Jk but seriously..
Budget travel is our style, but we do like to indulge every once in a while. There is nothing worse then going on vacation and missing out on things you may never get to do again, so treat yo’ self! We are here to give you advice on how to travel on a budget, but with some wiggle room to splurge on yourself.
Last but not least, I have a very sh*t memory. Like very sh*t. My health app told me I’m high risk for amnesia lol. yayyy. So this blog is a memory book for me. They say writing things down helps you remember things, so here’s to hoping that works. Worst case, I have this to look back on instead of in a journal that I misplaced because I forgot where I put it haha.
